The festival is a celebration of TRADITIONAL African American culture through music, food and art. The stage will feature Black music from various eras and genres: avant garde jazz, Funk, R&B, Gospel, Zydeco and New Orleans-style second line. Artists will sell their own handmade wares, and food vendors will sell black-eyed peas – which originated in Africa – in a variety of ways. Representatives of community organizations like the Registrar of Voters and Covered California will also be present. For children, an arts and crafts pavilion will keep them happy and busy.
