Brahms’ Requiem (Cantare/MLK Jr. Freedom Center)

Cantare, an Oakland-based non-profit community choral organization, presents Brahms’ Requiem. The Chorale and full orchestra, under the direction of Maestro David Morales, will be joined by soloists Shawnette Sulker, soprano, and Torlef Borsting, baritone. Before each of the seven movements of the Requiem, young speakers from Oakland’s Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center will share their original poetry highlighting the themes of loss, death, grieving, comfort, promise, and possibility.
