Brainchild of guitarist and singer Pascal Danaë —a veteran of work with Peter Gabriel, Youssou N’Dour, Neneh Cherry, and Gilberto Gil —the band is named after Louis Delgrès, 19th century leader of the resistance in Guadeloupe who sacrificed himself in the rebellion against Napoleon’s campaign to reintroduce slavery to the French Caribbean.
