Etienne Charles and Creole Soul
May 21 @ 4:30 PM PDT

Trumpeter and Trinidad native, Etienne Charles returns to the Bach with his wonderful sextet, Creole Soul. Charles infuses reggae, Calypso and Afro-Caribbean music into a distinctive version of modern jazz. He has already several albums including the highly regarded Creole Soul, which while steeped in the jazz tradition, delivered a unique spin on Creole-oriented tunes, including covers from past masters ranging from Bob Marley to Thelonious Monk. He has been featured as a bandleader at the Newport Jazz Festival and Monterey Jazz Festival, and has performed with a vast range of musicians, from Roberta Flack, Rene Marie, and David Rudder to Wynton Marsalis, Johnny Mandel, and the Count Basie Orchestra. Last time he came to the Bach everyone was on their feet!
