Marquis Hill New Gospel Revisited Featuring Kendrick Scott

One of the finest trumpeters in jazz today, Marquis Hill is also a composer and bandleader whose comprehensive vision highlights the unity and continuity within the musical heritage of African Americans. His talent shines in acclaimed albums like “Modern Flows Vol. II” and the notable “The Way We Play.” Hill’s ensemble, the Blacktet, is known for its exceptional musicianship and dynamic interplay. A Chicago native, Hill has a rich educational background in music and has been recognized for his skill, notably winning the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz competition in 2014. His accolades include being named “Rising Star–Trumpet” in DownBeat’s 2016 Critics Poll. Hill, who has collaborated with jazz greats like Marcus Miller and Makaya McCraven, continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his innovative approach to jazz.
