Tapy is Mario Andrés Quintero Cazarez, born in Tijuana, Mexico City, on April 2nd. He’s an Aries, the oldest in the family; no one knows him as Mario Quintero Junior. To his family and friends, he’s simply Tapy, a nickname that has stayed with him since childhood, and now his stage name is Tapy Quintero. He grew up nourished by music. “It was all I saw in my house,” says Tapy. “It was my breakfast, lunch, and dinner.” That’s why he has a lot of influence, especially that of his father, the renowned and multifaceted Mario Quintero Lara, founder, leader, author, sixth bassist, and vocalist of Los Tucanes de Tijuana.
