DESCRIPTION:Â IEP Strategies Training will be empowering and educating families who identify as Black, to learn effective strategies on how to navigate the IEP system. A 5-week training series presented by: Andrea Epps, former Special Education Attorney and Parent Advocate. We will meet every Thursday virtually to talk about the following topics:
Nov 2: Week 1Â – The Back Story to OUR Story
(Civil Rights 504/ADA/IDEA, Section 504/ADA for Black Children: Childcare, Preschool and School Age)
Nov 9: Week 2Â – FAPE, LRE and Inclusion for Black Children
Nov 16: Week 3Â – Assessments and Goals: What ever happened to Larry P?
Nov 30: Week 4Â – Being Black in the IEP Process & Managing the Meeting while Black
Dec 7: Week 5Â – Behaviors and Discipline for Black Children
