DESCRIPTION:Pianist and SFJAZZ Director of Education Rebeca Mauleón leads a Latin jazz orchestra with special guest saxophonist David Sánchez and members of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Latin Jazz Ensemble in a tribute to Eddie Palmieri. \nThe program celebrates Palmieri’s Nuyorican legacy and La Perfecta’s pioneering blend of salsa\, boogaloo and modern jazz. The ensemble includes Bay Area musicians alongside Sánchez\, who was discovered by Palmieri in Puerto Rico and performed on his Grammy-winning album Listen Here!. \nThe tribute falls in the week that would have been the late Palmieri’s 90th birthday.
