Black Life: Harvest as Miracle
The opening iteration of new Black Life Curator Gabriele Christian’s series of secret duets features two artists who are movers with a lengthy history of touches, folks who spellcast around harvest in land and community. Bay Area fall is Bay Area warmth, heat, and—some argue—paradise. This opening program of AS LONG AS THERE ARE CATASTROPHES, THERE WILL BE MIRACLES deals with what prayers and nourishment we can pull from the ground even as fires loom. A full crop is still within reach, if and only if you prepare for emergencies. Like our iconic redwood, which bears the scars of flame, HARVEST AS MIRACLE positions epicormic sprouting as a model for forbearance, patience, and continuance.
