On June 12, 2026, Silicon Valley Chief of Protocol, Deanna Tryon, was present for the arrival of ​ World Cup Team Switzerland that will be competing in the Bay Area over the next few weeks.

Ms. Tryon was joined by Mayor Lisa Gillmor, Supervisor Monica Martinez, Councilmember Bien Doan and the Chair of the Silicon Valley Host Committee, and former Chief of Protocol for the City and County of San Francisco, Maryam Muduroglu.

Ms. Tryon, whose office has supported San Jose Mineta International Airport in all aspects of protocol and diplomatic welcome for the past decade, provided a formal welcome to the competing teams as they begin their final matches. ​ “We are so proud to welcome these champions as we showcase the Bay Area to the world. ​ We have watched the Bay Area pull together to put our best face forward at this important time. ​ We commend and congratulate all of the talented competitors in this international event, and all of the local cities, counties, organizations, and agencies that made it all possible.”
