Bassist Lisa Mezzacappa leads a quintet with Aaron Bennett on tenor saxophone, Mark Clifford on vibraphone, Brett Carson on piano and Jordan Glenn on drums.
The program pairs Mezzacappa’s original music with arrangements of rarely heard pieces by composers including Herbie Nichols, Geri Allen, Arthur Blythe, Ornette Coleman, Carla Bley and Charles Mingus. She has worked in the Bay Area for decades as a composer, bassist, bandleader and producer.
