a Rashomon

Magic Theatre and Campo Santo present the world premiere of a Rashomon, written by Ashley Smiley, conceived by Joan Osato and directed by Edris Cooper-Anifowoshe.
Inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s landmark film, the San Francisco-set work uses intersecting, conflicting narratives to examine how a Black star dancer could die anonymously in his own city. The production layers live performance with a city diorama, puppets and original videography.
