Choreographer and director Aszure Barton and Oakland composer-trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire create an urgent stage world where dance and live music meet in friction, tension, intimacy, and explosive beauty. Barton, known for probing complex emotional terrain and dismantling the visible conventions of ballet technique, brings her distinctive movement language to a collaboration built around the physical experience of being together.

Akinmusire performs his score live on trumpet and electronics, placing the musician among the dancers rather than apart from them. The result is a provocative, continuously shifting encounter in which sound and movement test one another and search for new patterns of connection.
