Broad Strokes – The Art of Brian Clarke aka Les Toil
Brian Clarke, aka Les Toil, grew up in Berkeley, Ca. Surrounded by Big Daddy Roth cars, the Fantastic Four, MAD Magazine, The Jackson Five and Bruce Lee. These forces became the foundational threads shaping his work.
Les studied the Rennaisance and masters of the 20th century American Illustration at the California College of Arts and The San Francisco Academy of Art, These skills launched his career as an editorial magazine illustrator with a pop culture twist.
His work appeared on the covers of Gearbox Magazine and music posters, collaboration with Detroit Rock City director Adam Rifkin creating Shmobots. A stellar review from the legendary Stan Lee says it all.
