Celebrate the Freight Gala: Vibrant Voices. Global Roots.
The Freight’s annual gala celebrates the breadth of roots music and supports the nonprofit venue’s work as a home for artists, audiences and community programs. Vibrant Voices. Global Roots. gathers an eclectic lineup whose music crosses singer-songwriter traditions, Chinese and Appalachian instruments, contemporary composition and exploratory cello.
The evening features Rickie Lee Jones’s singular storytelling and songcraft; the cross-cultural dialogue of guzheng player Wu Fei and banjo artist Abigail Washburn; and composer-cellist Mia Pixley’s genre-fluid work exploring nature, darkness and renewal. Together, the artists reflect the Freight’s commitment to music that carries history forward while creating new connections across cultures. The performance is also a celebration of the community that keeps that mission alive.
