Fred Wesley’s New JBs w/ Martha High’s Funky Divas
Martha High’s Funky Divas and Fred Wesley’s New JBs deliver a power-packed celebration of the music created with James Brown. High sang onstage with Brown for four decades, while trombonist and bandleader Wesley helped define the JBs sound of the 1970s.
Wesley later expanded that legacy through Parliament-Funkadelic with George Clinton and Bootsy Collins, and both Wesley and High toured extensively with Maceo Parker. Together, the artists bring firsthand history, commanding musicianship and deep funk to Yoshi’s Oakland.
