JAZ SAWYER QUARTET: MUSIC OF COLTRANE II
Haight-Ashbury-born drummer Jaz Sawyer leads a quartet with James Mahone on saxophone, Maya Kronfield on piano and David Ewell on bass for the second part of a tribute marking John Coltrane’s centennial.
The program celebrates Coltrane’s legacy of innovation, artistry and improvisation. Sawyer has performed at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and the Kennedy Center and can be heard on more than 80 recordings as a leader and sideman with artists including George Benson, Wynton Marsalis, Abbey Lincoln and Herb Alpert.
