Jazz Is Dead: Cortex with Adrian Younge and J Rocc
ArtDontSleep presents the return of Cortex, the legendary French psychedelic jazz-funk group, for Le Jazz Est Mort. Founded and led by pianist, composer and vocalist Alain Mion, Cortex fused jazz, rock and funk into a sound that made the 1975 album Troupeau Bleu a cornerstone of hip-hop sampling, heard in work by Tyler, the Creator, MF DOOM, Madlib, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Baby Keem and others.
Cortex brings material from across its career to The UC Theatre, joined by Adrian Younge and J Rocc. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the show begins at 8 p.m. All ages.
