Jeffrey Foucault
Jeffrey Foucault brings stark, finely wrought songs and a weathered American voice to the Freight. Over two decades of touring, he has developed a spare blend of folk, blues and rock in which every lyric and guitar line carries emotional weight, leaving open space around stories of work, place, love and loss.
The performance draws from The Universal Fire, Foucault’s first album of entirely new material since 2018. Recorded live in one room, the songs respond to the death of his friend and drummer Billy Conway while reflecting on the destruction of historic master recordings in the 2008 Universal Studios fire. Personal grief becomes a larger meditation on beauty, memory, calling and what remains after the artifacts disappear.
