Joshua Redman Quartet

Berkeley-born saxophonist and composer Joshua Redman returns with his current quartet featuring pianist Paul Cornish, bassist Philip Norris and drummer Nazir Ebo.
The ensemble performs music from Redman’s 2025 Blue Note album Words Fall Short, a project centered on imperfection, human feeling and collective interaction. Across more than 20 albums, Redman has built a career as an improviser, bandleader and former member of the SFJAZZ Collective.
Redman assembled this group after the opening leg of the tour for his album Where Are We. For this quartet, technical command matters alongside attentive listening: each musician’s individual voice contributes to group improvisation rather than standing apart from it. Words Fall Short is Redman’s second Blue Note release and his first with these players, exploring the limits of language and the expressive possibilities of human imperfection.
