Saxophonist and 2023 NEA Jazz Master Kenny Garrett returns to SFJAZZ with his latest ensemble, drawing on a career that began with the Duke Ellington Orchestra and included five influential years with Miles Davis.
The Detroit native has performed with Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and built an extensive catalog as a bandleader. His most recent release is the electro-acoustic collaboration Who Killed AI? with keyboardist and producer Svoy.
