Lisa Vogel Book Release Celebration – Bay Area Mini Michigan Love Fest
October 20 @ 2:00 PM PDT
Lisa Vogel’s recently published book, We Can Live Like This…a Memoir of a Culture, illuminates the creation and community of the iconic Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival. The producer of the Festival for all 40 years, her book is a hybrid of personal memoir, a moving political/cultural exploration of four decades of lesbian feminism, and a nuts and bolts sharing of what it took to create a city built by women. Michigan was a living experiment in feminist culture, an incubator for radical politics, and an oasis of time away from the burdens of the outside world. It was wrapped together with the most dynamic celebration of women’s culture possible, featuring over 100 artists each Festival. Lisa will read from her book and is joined by beloved friends Barbara Higbie with Mia Pixley and Michaelle Goerlitz, Bitch & Animal, Elvira Kurt, Judith Casselberry, Julie Wolf, Krissy Keefer, Marcelle Davies Lashley, Skip The Needle and Staceyann Chin – for a Bay Area Mini Michigan Love Fest.
