MELBA’S KITCHEN big band brings recipes for romance in their special Valentine’s Night show – “Cookin’ With Love.” The all women big band celebrates Black musical geniuses MELBA LISTON, MARY LOU WILLIAMS, and their friends in a love letter to the community. It’s a combination concert and your chance to dance on one of the friendliest floors in the Bay Area.
MELBA’S KITCHEN takes a deep dive into the sophisticated and soulful compositions and arrangements of Liston and Williams, jazz giants who accomplished so much, yet were recognized in such low proportion to what they contributed. For this special Valentine’s event, the emphasis is on romance, and the big tent for all the kinds of love.
