Modernism is pleased to present “Left of Eden,” a new series of 28 paintings by San Francisco painter Michael Brennan. The paintings in the exhibition drift between narrative painting, pop art and surrealism, engaging questions of gender, identity and the shifting definitions of masculinity and femininity—concerns he traces from contemporary culture back to their mythic origins in the Garden of Eden.
