Nengi Omuku: The Gathering

Nengi Omuku’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States brings together dreamlike scenes painted on Nigerian sanyan textiles. Her floating figures and lush environments imagine gathering, care, freedom, and a better world for young Nigerians.
Omuku’s use of handwoven fabric joins contemporary painting with material histories of place, labor, inheritance, and cultural memory.
