Boasting more than 100 entries each year, this parade is one of the largest in the Bay Area. Early in the morning on the 4th, crowds line Novato’s Grant Avenue in the city’s Old Town district — many of whom planted their folding chairs and blankets in the wee hours of the morning to secure their favorite traditional spot to watch. Parade-goers loves the pageantry of classic cars, color guards, festive floats, bands, fancy cowgirls on golden palominos, decorated basset hounds and the famed comedic marching troop, the Nave Patrola. The parade is famous for its contingent of vintage military vehicles from the Joe Garbarino World War II Military Vehicle Museum in San Rafael, and our military veterans heartily appreciate recognition for their sacrifices to our country.
