O. Smith: Artivist

Orlando Smith uses drawing and illustrated journalism to confront injustice, abuses of power, and the realities of the criminal legal system. Working from San Quentin, the self-described artivist combines a comics background with urgent social observation.
The presentation also considers aging and long-term incarceration while emphasizing Smith’s belief in human dignity, civil rights, and safer communities.
