The Oakland School for the Arts Jazz Bands and Combos bring the spirit of jazz to life with bold sound, fearless improvisation, and electrifying performances. Grounded in jazz tradition but always pushing forward, these student ensembles explore everything from swing and bebop to funk and contemporary styles. Guided by professional artist-educators, musicians sharpen their craft on stage and in the studio, collaborating, soloing, and taking creative risks. Known for their high-energy shows and deep connection to the community, OSA’s jazz program delivers music that swings hard, speaks loud, and leaves a lasting impression.
