The Jason Marsalis Quartet with Vanisha Gould
Vibraphonist and drummer Jason Marsalis joins vocalist and composer Vanisha Gould for a wide-ranging program of modern jazz. Marsalis, the youngest member of the renowned New Orleans musical family, brings a distinctive rhythmic voice shaped by years with Marcus Roberts, Joe Henderson, Lionel Hampton and Los Hombres Calientes.
An NEA Jazz Master whose work includes the acclaimed album In a World of Mallets, Marsalis moves easily between drums and vibraphone. Gould, a New York-based artist known for original songs and expressive interpretations, adds a compelling vocal perspective to the quartet.
