BlackIsBrilliant Speaker Series Lessons From McDonogh

New Orleans’ Black education history is a source of profound inspiration for anyone working in education today. In BE NOLA’s six-part #BlackIsBrilliant Speaker Series hosted in partnership with The #BLAIRISMS we ask:

What can these Black education spaces teach us about igniting Black brilliance in New Orleans today?

We pick up on this question by examining the legacy of Historically Black Public High Schools in New Orleans and specifically shining a spotlight on the incomparable #McDonogh #35 College Preparatory High School!

McDonogh #35 is one of the most revered and longstanding public high schools in New Orleans. Through discussion of the school’s resilient history and indomitable spirit we will learn about the best practices and teachings maintained within this historic institution that have sucessfully ignited Black brilliance for generations.
