Wake the Dead
Wake the Dead returns for its annual Day of the Dead Bash with a collision of Celtic tradition and the music of the Summer of Love. The Bay Area ensemble threads Irish jigs and reels through songs by the Grateful Dead, then widens the circle to include Jefferson Airplane, the Youngbloods, Buffalo Springfield and the British Invasion.
Soaring harmonies, uilleann pipes, fiddles, mandolin and percussion drive arrangements that feel less like mashups than a shared musical language. Tunes can turn from a reel into a psychedelic anthem and back again, keeping dancers and close listeners equally engaged. Never the same show twice, the Bash is built for surprise, communal joy and the rare groove where Celtoids and Deadheads meet.
