The Sinkler Miller Medical Association was formed in 1969 by physicians located in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties who saw the need to unite and form a professional medical association. Our objectives includes the improvement of the quality of health care in the community, advancement of the art as well as the science of medicine, and the maintenance of a high standard of medical ethics. The association was named after two physicians who exemplified these objectives and were deeply committed to the delivery of quality health care to the Black community.
Presently, the Sinkler Miller Medical Association has over 160 members. As a local branch of both the National Medical Association and the State of California Golden State Medical Association, Sinkler Miller maintains its commitment towards the betterment of the field of health, education and welfare.

This year’s gala took place at City View, overlooking Yerba Buena Gardens. It was a wonderful night of art, entertainment, music, fabulous food, wine and cocktails … the best party in town! The regularly sold out event was attended by some of the Bay are’s key influencers, in attendance to support the arts, the Museum of the African Diaspora and the achievements of the evening’s honoree, Lloyd H. Dean.

Betty Reid Soskin has seen a lot in her 96 years. During World War II, Soskin worked as a file clerk helping African-American workers. She was active in the civil rights struggle and founded a record store in Berkeley that still stands today. Currently she’s the oldest full-time national park ranger and works at the Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, where she helps visitors understand the contributions of women and African-Americans to the war effort. Her new book, Sign My Name to Freedom, chronicles her remarkable life.
