The San Francisco Symphony presents a full screening with orchestra of the seminal film Metropolis by Fritz Lang, celebrating its 100th anniversary. Since its creation, the 1927 silent masterpiece has cried out for a musical score that could match and even enhance its staggering images and strong emotional themes. This new performance version of Metropolis is a virtual âmusic video for film and orchestraâ featuring music by Schoenberg, Berg, and Grieg.
