Will Downing
Will Downing, known as the Prince of Sophisticated Soul, brings his smooth baritone and more than three decades of R&B recordings to Yoshi’s Oakland. Across 27 albums, Downing has paired romantic ballads, inventive interpretations and contemporary soul with an unmistakable vocal style.
His project Soul Rising transforms themes of love, grief, resilience and healing into a seven-song statement. The album includes “What Part of My Love,” which reached the top of the U.K. Soul Chart, along with deeply personal material shaped by family loss and renewal.
