Electric Blues & Classic Grooves brings together powerhouse Bay Area voices for a night of soul, blues, R&B and rhythm made to move a room. Tony Lindsay, Nona Brown and Bryan S. Dyer lead the program through songs associated with artists such as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and John Lee Hooker.
Rather than imitate the originals, the performers bring their own vocal character and stage experience to this deep catalog of American music. Expect warm harmonies, expressive solos and a rhythm section locked into everything from slow-burning blues to danceable classic grooves. The evening celebrates songs that have endured because they still speak directly to joy, heartache and resilience.
