Rumi’s Caravan Returns to Berkeley
For more than 20 years, Rumi’s Caravan has created improvised poetic conversations with live music, drawing on the work of Rumi, Hafiz, Mary Oliver, Kabir, Wendell Berry, Pablo Neruda, Rilke, Robert Bly, Yeats, Naomi Shihab Nye, William Stafford, Maya Angelou, Leonard Cohen, Seamus Heaney, Denise Levertov, Antonio Machado, May Sarton and others. The performance can move from inspiration and ecstasy to grief and back again, always returning to images of beauty.
Rumi’s Caravan returns to Berkeley and The Freight to share this treasury of words in support of the Middle East Children’s Alliance. All proceeds from the evening benefit MECA. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Dress lavishly! Please note that this is a rental event, not a Freight presentation.
