Lalo Guerrero Legacy Festival: Rockin’ Jalapeño Band and Mark Guerrero with Jerry Salas
The Freight’s second annual Lalo Guerrero Legacy Festival honors the artist known as the Father of Chicano Music. Guerrero’s songs moved freely through ranchera, bolero, corrido, cumbia, swing, rock and blues, creating a body of work that reflected Mexican American life while shaping generations of musicians.
This opening-night concert brings that legacy forward through the Rockin’ Jalapeño Band and Mark Guerrero with Jerry Salas. The Rockin’ Jalapeño Band carries the vision of founder José “Dr. Loco” Cuéllar in a celebratory blend of Mexican tradition, rock, Caribbean rhythm and R&B. Mark Guerrero, Lalo’s son and a Chicano rock historian, connects family memory to a living musical movement built on cultural pride, community and social purpose.
