Lalo Guerrero Legacy Festival: La Doña and Mark Guerrero with Jerry Salas

The Freight’s Lalo Guerrero Legacy Festival concludes with a concert honoring the extraordinary range and lasting influence of the Father of Chicano Music. Guerrero moved across salsa, ranchera, bolero, corrido, cumbia, swing, rock and blues, creating songs that carried humor, history and Mexican American experience into the national songbook.
La Doña brings that legacy into the present by joining corrido, bolero, cumbia and mariachi with reggaeton, hip-hop and jazz, turning performance into a space for ceremony, movement and collective healing. Mark Guerrero and Jerry Salas connect the evening directly to Lalo’s family and the history of Chicano rock. Together, the artists celebrate continuity without imitation—ancestral traditions transformed through contemporary Bay Area voices.
