Akira and Atsuko
Hammond B3 organist Atsuko Hashimoto, guitarist Yutaka Hashimoto and drummer Akira Tana perform at Mr. Tipple’s.
Born in Osaka, Hashimoto began playing organ at age four and later became a Hammond-certified teacher. Tana’s official event materials and Jazz at Lincoln Center profile document his work with artists including Sonny Rollins, Lena Horne and The Manhattan Transfer; this trio format draws on jazz-organ repertoire, the Great American Songbook and Japanese pop and folk traditions.
