Zaccai Curtis Sextet

Pianist Zaccai Curtis leads a fiery sextet reviving Afro-Cuban bebop with modern swing. His Grammy-winning album Cubop Lives! honors the fusion pioneered by Dizzy Gillespie, Chano Pozo and Mario Bauzá.
Raised in Hartford in a family of Puerto Rican and African American heritage, Curtis developed a style grounded in jazz, Afro-Caribbean rhythm and rhythmic sophistication. His collaborators include Eddie Palmieri, Brian Lynch, Donald Harrison and Santana.
