Maurice MOBETTA Brown Holiday Spectacular
GRAMMY Award-winning trumpeter, rapper and producer Maurice “Mobetta” Brown brings his exuberant holiday celebration to SFJAZZ after more than a decade of wintertime MOBETTA Holiday Jams in his hometown of Chicago.
Brown’s sound moves across jazz, hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B, shaped by his pre-Katrina years in New Orleans and collaborations with artists including Aretha Franklin, Santana, Anderson .Paak, Bruno Mars and The Roots. The program builds on the spirit of his 2025 album Betta Days.
For this holiday program, Brown combines spontaneous musical invention and storytelling with dance-oriented grooves. Its themes of freedom, love and transformation draw on the soul of Betta Days, extending his Chicago holiday tradition to the SFJAZZ audience.
