The Alex Lucero Band
The Alex Lucero Band has opened for Michael McDonald, Chaka Khan and Pablo Cruise, and Lookout Santa Cruz hears in Alex’s voice a touch of Al Green and a shade of Van Morrison. Raised in Oakdale in the Central Valley and now rooted in Santa Cruz, Lucero grew up on Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, and he has turned that soul into a run of independent albums, including Dotted Line and Opportunity, with wife Justina Lucero on bass.
When the pandemic shut the clubs, the band livestreamed sets from empty rooms and played relief shows for CZU fire families.
