Spotlight Sundays: Roadsongs for Dorothea Lange

Oakland Museum of California presents Last West: Roadsongs for Dorothea Lange as part of its Spotlight Sundays program. Written by Tess Taylor and directed by Ciera Eis, the play draws on Lange’s notebooks, photographs and oral histories to explore the photographer’s journeys through California. Actors bring those records into performance against projections of her images.
The production considers migration, the passage of time and the responsibility of bearing witness. Its origins lie in the museum’s Lange archive, connecting the photographer’s documented experiences with the California audiences know today. Two performances take place on October 18. Tickets and full attendance details are available from the museum.
