Alexandra Ridout Quintet
British trumpeter, bandleader, composer and educator Alexandra Ridout brings her quintet to Mr. Tipple’s with Yvonne Rogers on piano, Simón Willson on bass and David Sirkis on drums.
Ridout won BBC Young Jazz Musician in 2016 and has since earned honors including the British Jazz Awards’ Rising Star recognition, the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award for Best Soloist, a Laurie Frink Career Grant and the Next Jazz Legacy Award. She is based in Harlem and performs internationally with her own ensembles and prominent collaborators.
The group brings together emerging voices from New York’s contemporary jazz scene, using Ridout’s compositions as a setting for counterpoint, interplay and the varied influences that shape her trumpet sound.
