Ballaké Sissoko and Piers Faccini
Two decades after their first collaboration, Malian kora virtuoso Ballaké Sissoko and British-Italian songwriter Piers Faccini reunite for Our Calling. Their acoustic dialogue brings the luminous sound of the kora into conversation with guitar and English-language vocals, bridging Manding traditions with British and Mediterranean folk.
Across songs shaped by close listening, the duo follows the journeys of seeds, birds and people to reflect on migration, belonging and the ways cultures take root far from home. Sissoko’s flowing lines and Faccini’s understated songwriting meet with unusual ease, creating music that feels intimate yet wide-ranging—a shared language built across continents, traditions and years of friendship.
