Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov returns after his acclaimed Cal Performances recital debut, bringing the combination of power, delicacy, and dramatic command that has distinguished his work as both orchestral soloist and recitalist.
The program pairs Brahms’ introspective Four Piano Pieces, Op. 119 with Czerny’s Variations on a Theme by Rode and Liszt’s Dante-inspired Après une lecture du Dante. Debussy’s luminous Suite bergamasque and Stravinsky’s diabolically virtuosic Three Movements from Petrushka complete a recital full of sharply contrasting colors.
