Branford Marsalis & Dianne Reeves Celebrate John Coltrane
Saxophonist Branford Marsalis and his quartet are joined by vocalist Dianne Reeves for a program devoted to the music of John Coltrane in honor of the centennial of his birth.
An NEA Jazz Master, three-time Grammy Award winner and Tony and Emmy nominee, Marsalis is equally at home performing orchestral concertos and collaborating across popular music, but the Branford Marsalis Quartet remains at the center of his musical world. The ensemble has spent more than three decades interpreting original compositions alongside jazz and popular classics.
Marsalis and Reeves revisit the spirit of Coltrane’s seminal 1963 collaboration with vocalist Johnny Hartman. A five-time Grammy winner, Reeves brings her own gifts of elegance, swing and improvisational poise to songs associated with that historic recording.
