Celebrating Herbert Blomstedt

Don’t miss your chance to celebrate the centenary of the legendary American-born Swedish conductor Herbert Blomstedt, the San Francisco Symphony’s Conductor Laureate. Decades ago, Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony was an early highlight in his tenure as Music Director. When Blomstedt revisits the complex and magisterial work, he brings to it a lifetime’s worth of loving stewardship. In contrast to the methodical Bruckner, Schubert was still in his teens when he composed his Third Symphony, a sublime synthesis of musical influences: early Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn—and something all his own.
