The Dover Quartet returns to Berkeley with the glowing sound, clarity, and expressive range that carried the ensemble from a sweep of the Banff International String Quartet Competition prizes to two Grammy nominations and recognition as one of the leading quartets of its generation.

The program spans three sharply contrasting musical worlds. Mozart’s buoyant String Quartet in B-flat major, K. 458, The Hunt, gives way to the spare, brooding intimacy of Sibelius’ Voces intimae, Op. 56. Brahms’ sumptuous String Quartet in C minor, Op. 51, No. 1 brings the recital to a passionate Romantic conclusion.
