Emory Douglas: In Our Lifetime Closing Reception

AAACC marks the closing of Emory Douglas: In Our Lifetime, a building-wide survey spanning more than 50 years of work and vision by the revolutionary artist and former Black Panther Party Minister of Culture. The exhibition follows Douglas’s graphic practice from the Black Panther newspaper into the digital era and across contemporary movements for global solidarity.
Installed throughout the complex, the survey includes sections devoted to revolutionary printmaking, cartooning, portraits and iconography, media projection, Haiti, Palestine, collaborations, remixes, and the future of political art. Douglas’s bold visual language translated the Black Panther Party’s ideas into images designed to be understood widely, portraying oppressed communities with dignity and reclaimed power.
Thursday, October 15. Reception details and time are still to come from AAACC.
